Questions about Tunisia to Libya

Which border crossing do the trucks use?

Usually Ras Jedir, near Ben Gardane, the main crossing between the two countries; Dehiba is another. The crossings can close or slow down at short notice, so we tell you the situation when we quote and keep you updated on the way.

Usually the commercial invoice, the packing list and a certificate of origin, which gives access to the lower duties between Arab countries. Your buyer handles the import in Libya; we prepare the documents in Tunisia and send them to the buyer in time. See Customs clearance: keeping your goods moving.

When your goods fill most of a truck, or must not be handled on the way, a full truck is better. For a few pallets, groupage is usually cheaper. Tell us the size and weight and we suggest the better option.

On sound pallets, wrapped and labelled, with nothing overhanging, so they can be checked at the border without damage. See Packing and palletising for export.

Exporting to Libya by road

Food, building materials, household goods and many other Tunisian products are sold in Libya, and the road is the quickest way to get them there. Most of the delay comes from the documents and the border, not from the distance, so we prepare everything before the truck leaves.

Agree with your buyer who pays which costs before you ship: the Incoterm on the invoice settles it. Our guide Incoterms 2020 explained helps you choose, and our customs clearance team handles the export formalities.
